Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Weren't at Princess Beatrice's Royal Wedding

Finally, Princess Beatrice and her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi tied the knot Friday morning at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, it was a much smaller affair than other recent royal weddings.

There were between 20 to 30 invited guest to the ceremony, "It was, for the most part, his and her immediate family," confirmed this friend.

And while the Queen, Prince Philip, and Mozzi's son "Wolfie" were all present to hear the intimate "I dos,"—in fact, the wedding was planned to accommodate the British monarch's schedule, that same source shared—the bride's cousin Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are not believed to have been in attendance.

In the weeks following the Sussexes' decision to step back from their senior royal roles, the family moved to Los Angeles. And given the current global health crisis, it would not have made sense for the Sussexes to travel internationally for the event, especially considering that California has recently seen an increase in cases of COVID-19.

At this point, it's unclear when Harry, Meghan, and baby Archie might return to the UK next; it's a trip that will likely depend on the status of the coronavirus pandemic, among other factors.
